New Construction Drywall in Bend, OR

Hung tight. Finished flat.

Hang, tape, finish and texture for new builds across Central Oregon.

Finished to the level you ask for, scheduled around your trades.

New Construction

How we go about it.

New drywall goes up in a set order. Every step shows in the finished wall.

Board is stocked first. Ceilings are hung, then the walls.

Screws are set just below the paper without breaking it. A torn face holds nothing.

Joints are staggered. Butt joints stay clear of door and window corners, where cracks start.

Finishing is tape, corner bead on outside corners, and coats of compound, each wider than the last.

Each coat is sanded before the next. Texture or a smooth finish goes on last.

A builder needs dates that hold. Drywall sits between the rough inspections and the trim crew.

What is included

The scope, spelled out.

  • Hanging

Ceilings and walls boarded, with openings cut for boxes, lights, windows and doors.

  • Taping and finishing

Tape, corner bead and coats of compound, sanded between coats.

  • Texture or smooth

Orange peel, knockdown, hand trowel, or a smooth wall with no texture.

  • Vaulted and tall ceilings

High work needs scaffold and a plan. Mention it on the first call.

  • Baths and laundry rooms

Moisture-resistant board goes up in the wet rooms of the house.

  • Garages

Often finished to a lower level than the house. Say which level you want.

Worth knowing

What finish level do you need?

Drywall finish is graded from level 0 to level 5. The standard is Gypsum Association GA-214.

A higher level means more coats, more sanding and a flatter wall.

Light decides the level. A long wall with a window at one end shows every joint.

Level 5 puts a skim coat over the whole surface, not just the joints.

Name the level for each room up front. It changes how many coats the wall gets.

Quick reference

Level 3
Tape and one more coat on the joints. Under heavy texture.
Level 4
Tape and two more coats. For flat paint and light texture.
Level 5
Level 4 plus a full skim coat. For smooth walls or gloss paint.

What finish level should I ask for?

Level 4 is the usual standard for flat paint and light texture.

Ask for level 5 on smooth walls, gloss paint or strong side light.

When does drywall go in on a new build?

After insulation and the rough inspections, and before trim, cabinets and paint.

One Google reviewer described the job as “very communicative and prompt with the project deadline”.

Is my build too small to call about?

Call (503) 991-3165 between 8 AM and 6 PM, any day of the week.

Carlos Soto, brother of Danny, wrote on Google that Danny is “fast and professional no matter the size”.

What goes behind the tile in a shower?

Cement board, not drywall.

Moisture-resistant drywall belongs on the other walls of a bath or laundry room.
