Remodel Drywall in Bend, OR

Old wall, new board. One room.

Additions, basements, garages and walls opened up by other trades.

New board tied into old so the room reads as one.

Remodel Drywall

How we go about it.

Remodel drywall has one extra job. The new board has to disappear into the old wall.

Old walls are rarely flat or plumb. Shimming and wider floats are normal.

Where new board meets old, the joint is taped and coated out wide until the step is gone.

The existing texture is carried across old and new, so the wall looks like one job.

A lot of remodel work is closing up after plumbers and electricians.

Take out a wall and a strip of bare ceiling is left. That strip gets patched and textured.

In a lived-in house, floors are covered and dust is contained before sanding starts.

What is included

The scope, spelled out.

  • Additions

New rooms boarded and finished, then tied into the existing house.

  • Basements and bonus rooms

Unfinished space hung, taped and textured to match the rest of the house.

  • Garages, shops, pole barns

Bare framing boarded and finished. One Google reviewer hired Danny for a pole barn interior.

  • Closing up after trades

Walls and ceilings opened for plumbing, wiring or ductwork, boarded back and finished.

  • Removed walls

The ceiling strip left behind is filled, floated flat and textured to match.

  • Texture across old and new

The old pattern is matched on the new board so no line shows.

Worth knowing

Where new meets old.

The tie-in is where a remodel shows. Each kind needs something different.

New framing next to old rarely lines up. The low side is shimmed before board goes on.

Old board can be thicker or thinner than new. A wide float loses the difference.

The other trades set the pace. Board waits until wiring, plumbing and inspections are done.

Tell Danny what is opened up, what is being added, and when the other trades finish.
